Note:
Isaac H. Davison / Sometime before 1835, & probably between 1832
and 1835, John Breckinridge, Isaac Davison and James Glenn were
elected and ordained as elders, and enrolled as members of session.
John Breckinridge was dismissed to the church of Centreville
(Slippery Rock was known as Centerville), about the year of 1838.
Isaac Davison continued in the session until his death, which took
place May 8, 1849. John Glenn became alienated (cause to be no
longer friendly) from the church on account of the position the General
Assembly (O.S.) had taken in 1845, on slavery. He ceased to act as an
elder and withdrew from the Presbyterian Church and united with the
"Free Precbyterian Church" near Harrisville, to which the Rev. J.C.
Bigham then ministered. His name was dropped from the roll of the
session and he was declared no longer in connection with the
Presbyterian Church, by session April 3, 1850. * at this time the
decisions of the church membership and who would minister to the
congregation were left to the ecclesiastical court * We now come to
the time of Mr. Walker's settlement in 1839, when the recorded minutes
of the session begin. The ecclesiastical court of the church, at that time,
consisted of the following 6 members: Benjamin Jack, John McNees,
Robert Stevenson, Jacob Emery, Isaac Davison and James Glenn.
The following persons were received on certificate: etc.-----***** from
the BUTLER REPOSITORY newspaper dated April 24, 1829, a "List of
letters" remaining at the post office at Butler as of April 1, 1829 shows
that Isaac Davison had a letter waiting for him. In those days the recipient
of a letter would go to the post office and pick up the letter and pay the
postage due.
